My love for design and creativity began in traditional mediums of drawing, pottery and sculpture making. This eventually led me to studying graphic and web design. While creating visually beautiful designs and interfaces is important and exciting I became aware of something essential: designing with people in mind.Mi pasión por el diseño y la creatividad empezó en medios tradicionales como dibujar, cerámica, y la escultura. Con el tiempo, esto me condujo a estudiar diseño gráfico y web. Aunque creando diseños e interfaces visualmente hermosos es emocionante e importante me di cuenta de algo esencial: diseñar con la gente en mente.
I'm convinced that designing with empathy is the only way to design successfully. That's not just trying to solve problems, but also understanding people's emotions and motivations with compassion. That compassion should not only extend to the readers, customers, and users of a product, but also internally to the people inside an organization that builds products.Estoy convencido que diseñando con empatía es la única manera de diseñar con éxito. Y eso no solo significa solucionar problemas sino también entender con compasión las emociones y motivaciones de la gente. Esa compasión debe extenderse no solamente a lectores, clientes y usuarios de un producto sino también a personas dentro de una organización que fabrican productos.
You might wonder why my site is in more than one language. Isn't English enough? A large portion of the US population speaks Spanish, and I feel it's important to understand the language and culture of the audiences that you create products for. I'm particularly sensitive to this because I come from a Hispanic cultural background. As a lead product designer I also act as a design liaison to development and business teams internationally, some of which speak primarily Spanish.Quizás usted se pregunte porqué mi sitio está escrito en más de un idioma. ¿No basta con solo tenerlo en inglés? Una buena parte de la población de EEUU habla español, y siento que es importante entender el idioma y cultura de la gente para cual diseñas productos. Este es de particular interés en mi caso porque soy de antecedentes hispanos. Como soy el principal diseñador de productos, también sirvo de enlace entre equipos de desarrollo y de negocio a nivel internacional. Algunos de estos equipos hablan principalmente español.
What else do you want to know about me? I do kind of like long walks on the beach, because in general I love the beach. Also most people consider me a pretty laid back person, and I think I can be hilarious if that counts for anything...¿Qué más le gustaría conocer de mí?
